Yes, freedom of religion is a Constitutional guarantee. Freedom of stupidity is not. If you are interested in fostering understanding, why would you stick your finger in the eye of those who don’t understand? There is a group of people who want to build an Islamic center 2 blocks from the site of the former World Trade Center. This is having a predictable effect on the family members of some victims. I have no problem with Islam. I also understand that the fundamentalist a-holes that murdered all those people have as much to do with Islam as the KKK has to do with Christianity. If you want to educate nonbelievers I applaud you. But couldn’t you do it in Queens?
