Saffron Serenade!
Variations on a more traditional challah
theme. This bread is colored, and flavored, with saffron!
This begins life as, more or less, a 'traditional' challah. If I have learned nothing else during my travels with Maggie, it's that there is no such thing as 'A' traditional challah. Two things that lead this bread from the challah straight & narrow are raisins and saffron. DOn't judge this bread by its cover. Not only does the saffron give it great deep color... The contrast in flavors between the saffron and the raisins is very tasty.
