Top Secret! or Challah-Baloo Too...
I've been testing recipes for a book on Jewish
breads. Here are some samples.
The first is a classic challah. It is enriched with lots of eggs and vegetable oil. It's also sweetened with lots of sugar. This next one gets tweaked a bit. It gets some rains and caraway seeds added. This is the same dough. Trust me! Back to Babka! All kinds of things rolled up inside. Safely sealed and ready for the oven. Unlike my last babka binge, these stay straight. Anyone have a cuppa coffee? No sugar and lots of olive oil. Pretty damned tasty, if I do say so myself. This is sort of a hybrid bread. ... but uses pumkin pie like spices. The flavor of the pumpkin and spices is very subtle. It kinda sneaks up on ya.
